What is SMTP?#

SMTP is the standard protocol mail systems use to transfer and submit email. This profile connects Jooosi Mail to a remote SMTP server. Read more on the official website and in the official documentation.

Profile#

The Jooosi Mail SMTP profile supports these transports and settings:

  • Transport schemes: smtp (default) and smtps.
  • Host: required; enter the remote SMTP server hostname.
  • Port: optional, defaults to 587.
  • Username and password: optional fields, depending on the server’s authentication requirements. Password is secret.

Select a transport scheme and fill in the fields shown for that scheme. Secret fields should be copied from your provider account and kept private.

Create the connection#

  1. In WordPress admin, open Jooosi Mail → Connections and choose New connection.
  2. Enter a descriptive Connection name and select SMTP in Profile.
  3. Choose the transport scheme and enter the matching required credentials listed in the Profile section.
  4. Review the sender, routing, and advanced settings for this connection.
  5. Choose Create connection to save it.

For the shared connection workflow, see Provider profiles and transports.

Verify delivery#

Follow Send a test email and send it to a mailbox you can check. A test sends a real email. Check the mailbox and Jooosi Mail → Logs for the attempt status. See Email logs and resending for details.

Webhooks#

A generic SMTP server does not provide a Jooosi Mail provider webhook adapter. Review delivery attempts in Jooosi Mail email logs and consult the SMTP server operator for server-side delivery status.

Troubleshooting#

Check the hostname, port, and scheme against your mail host’s connection requirements. If authentication is required, enter the matching username and password. Confirm that the WordPress host can connect to the SMTP server. For more detail on a failed attempt, review Jooosi Mail email logs.
