What is Postal?#
Postal is a self-hosted mail delivery platform with an HTTP API for sending messages. Read more on the official website and in the official documentation.
Profile#
The Postal profile supports API delivery to a Postal server. It does not provide an SMTP transport.
- Transport: postal+api is the only supported scheme.
- Required: Postal API key (secret) and Postal host.
- Optional: port number; leave blank when the server uses its default port.
Create the connection#
Before creating the connection, have the API key and server host for the Postal instance you administer. No public cloud endpoint is assumed.
- In WordPress admin, open Jooosi Mail → Connections and choose New connection.
- Enter a descriptive Connection name and select Postal in Profile.
- Select postal+api, enter the API key and Postal host, and add a port only if your server requires a non-default port.
- Review the sender, routing, and advanced settings for this connection.
- Choose Create connection to save it.
For the shared connection workflow, see Provider profiles and transports.
Verify delivery#
Follow Send a test email and send it to a mailbox you can check. A test sends a real email. Check the mailbox and Jooosi Mail → Logs for the attempt status. See Email logs and resending for details.
Webhooks#
The Postal profile does not declare a provider webhook adapter. Track delivery attempts in Jooosi Mail email logs.
Troubleshooting#
- For missing-field validation, confirm postal+api is selected and that both API key and host are populated.
- If your server listens on a non-default port, enter the port as a number; otherwise leave it blank.
- If a test fails, confirm the host is the Postal server host and inspect the email log for the provider response.
