What is Sendmail?#
Sendmail is a local mail transfer program that hands messages to the server’s configured mail system. Jooosi Mail invokes a sendmail-compatible command on the WordPress host. Read more on the official website and in the official documentation.
Profile#
The Jooosi Mail Sendmail profile supports these transports and settings:
- Transport scheme:
sendmail(the only option). - Command: optional. When blank, Jooosi Mail uses the transport’s default sendmail command; enter a custom command only when your host requires one.
- This profile does not use an API key, SMTP credentials, or a provider-specific region.
Select a transport scheme and fill in the fields shown for that scheme. Secret fields should be copied from your provider account and kept private.
Create the connection#
- In WordPress admin, open Jooosi Mail → Connections and choose New connection.
- Enter a descriptive Connection name and select Sendmail in Profile.
- Choose the transport scheme and enter the matching required credentials listed in the Profile section.
- Review the sender, routing, and advanced settings for this connection.
- Choose Create connection to save it.
For the shared connection workflow, see Provider profiles and transports.
Verify delivery#
Follow Send a test email and send it to a mailbox you can check. A test sends a real email. Check the mailbox and Jooosi Mail → Logs for the attempt status. See Email logs and resending for details.
Webhooks#
This local transport does not declare a provider webhook adapter. Check the Jooosi Mail email log and the mail system logs on the WordPress host.
Troubleshooting#
- Confirm that a sendmail-compatible executable is installed and available to the PHP/WordPress process. If your host uses a non-default executable, set the Sendmail command option and inspect the host mail logs after a test. For more detail on a failed attempt, review Jooosi Mail email logs.
