What is Mailtrap?#

Mailtrap provides email sending and email testing tools, including a testing inbox for sandbox messages. Read more on the official website and in the official documentation.

Profile#

The Mailtrap profile supports live API, SMTP, and sandbox API transports. The API scheme is the default.

  • Live API: mailtrap+api requires a Mailtrap token (secret).
  • SMTP: mailtrap+smtp requires an SMTP API token in the Password field (secret); no SMTP username is required.
  • Sandbox: mailtrap+sandbox requires a Mailtrap token (secret) and a sandbox inbox ID (number). The token field is shared by both API modes.

Create the connection#

Before you begin, create an account and prepare the credentials for the selected transport. Complete any sender or domain verification required by the provider.

  1. In WordPress admin, open Jooosi Mail → Connections and choose New connection.
  2. Enter a descriptive Connection name and select Mailtrap in Profile.
  3. Choose mailtrap+api, mailtrap+smtp, or mailtrap+sandbox and enter the matching credentials. For sandbox, use the inbox ID from the same Mailtrap account as the token.
  4. Review the sender, routing, and advanced settings for this connection.
  5. Choose Create connection to save it.

For the shared connection workflow, see Provider profiles and transports.

Verify delivery#

Follow Send a test email and send it to a mailbox you can check. A test sends a real email. Check the mailbox and Jooosi Mail → Logs for the attempt status. See Email logs and resending for details.

Webhooks#

Mailtrap webhooks can report delivery, engagement, unsubscribe, spam, bounce, suspension, and rejection events; Jooosi Mail reads event batches. The adapter accepts requests without a signature (unsigned-allowed), so review endpoint exposure before registering one. See Provider webhooks for the endpoint and event log.

Troubleshooting#

  • For missing-field validation, confirm the scheme and fill the matching settings listed in Profile.
  • After a failed test, re-copy the credential for the selected mode and inspect the connection status and email log.
  • For sandbox delivery, verify that the inbox ID belongs to the same Mailtrap account as the token and enter it as a positive number. For live API or SMTP sending, select that scheme and use its matching credential.
