Use Local Icons to add your own SVG files to the picker. Jooosi Icon sanitizes uploaded SVG markup and serves these icons from your WordPress site, so they do not need a request to the Iconify API.
Upload an SVG#
- In WordPress Admin, open Jooosi Icon.
- Choose the destination set, or create a set for this group of icons.
- Select Upload Icons and choose one or more SVG files.
- After the upload finishes, search for the icon in the picker.
Uploads must be SVG files no larger than 1 MB each. Use simple, descriptive file names such as arrow-right.svg; the file name becomes the icon name.
Choose a set and use its prefix#
Icons uploaded without choosing a named set belong to the default local set. A custom set has its own prefix, based on the set slug. Use the same prefix:name format used by other icon sources:
local:arrow-rightfor an icon in the default set.brand:markfor an icon namedmark.svgin a set with thebrandprefix.
You can create, rename, or organize sets in the Jooosi Icon screen. Choosing a clear prefix makes local icons easier to find when you have several sets.
Storage and manual uploads#
Uploaded files are stored in wp-content/uploads/jooosi-icon/local/. You can also place SVG files in this directory manually; organize them into subdirectories to group icons into sets. Use the plugin’s manager to refresh the icon list after changing files directly.
Troubleshooting#
- If an icon is missing, check that its file name and set prefix match the name used in the picker.
- Make sure the file is a valid SVG and is under the 1 MB limit.
- For icons from remote collections, see Iconify Icons. For adding another plugin or theme source, see Register a Custom Source.
