Before you begin#
Before you begin, confirm that the WordPress host provides a local sendmail-compatible binary and that the PHP process can access it. This profile has no remote provider credentials.
Supported transport and settings#
The Sendmail profile passes mail to a local sendmail-compatible binary on the WordPress host. It is intended for servers that already provide and configure that local mail transport.
- Transport scheme: sendmail.
- Required profile settings: none.
- Optional: Sendmail command. Leave it blank to use the transport default; a supplied value overrides the command used by the transport.
- Raw DSN override: leave empty to use the profile’s built-in sendmail transport.
For transport background, see Symfony Mailer documentation.
Create the connection#
- In WordPress admin, open Jooosi Mail → Connections and choose New connection.
- Enter a Connection name.
- Select Sendmail in Profile.
- Leave Sendmail command blank to use the transport default, or enter the command configured for your host. See Symfony’s transport documentation for command syntax.
- Leave Raw DSN override empty unless you intentionally use a custom transport DSN.
- Review the sender and other connection settings relevant to your setup, then choose Create connection.
See the shared Connect a provider guide for the connection workflow.
Verify delivery#
Follow Send a test email and send a real message to a mailbox you can check. Review the attempt in Jooosi Mail → Logs and check the host’s mail service logs. A handoff to the local binary does not confirm final delivery.
Webhooks#
The Sendmail profile does not declare provider webhook support. Review attempts in Jooosi Mail email logs and the host’s mail service logs.
Troubleshooting#
- If the transport cannot start, confirm the host provides a sendmail-compatible binary that the WordPress PHP process can run.
- If the transport accepts the message but it does not arrive, inspect the local mail service’s logs and verify the configured Sendmail command with the host administrator.
